CBD interaction with medications can be caused by reducing the function of the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes in the liver. CYP is the system responsible for metabolizing many medications. A large dose of CBD can cause the CYP enzymes to become temporarily inactive reducing the effectiveness of the other medications. The dosage for the prescription cannabidiol starts at 1.13 mg per lb of body weight and goes as high as 9 mg per lb of body weight.
The following drug groups are metabolized by the cytochrome P450 enzyme system and may be affected by a high dose of CBD.
